No offence to the beardy IT guy – we know

Yes, having a hard drive back up is better
than nothing at all, but let me ask you this; is someone regularly checking that
the backup actually works? That means loading it on their desktop at regular
intervals to check everyone’s data is exactly as it should be?

In this day and age of viruses, malware and
ransom-ware, having a secure data connection and back- up protocol is vital.

Here are a few examples of how you can
successfully back up your files and retain some peace of mind in knowing that
you are well placed to recover quickly should disaster strike:

  1. External Hard Drive – Use a
    Network Attached Storage (NAS) device with a water and fire retardant casing.
    Have it scheduled to complete a back-up at the end of each day outside of
    business hours. Perform a test back-up once a month by randomly selecting files
    and ensuring that they open and function as expected.
  2. Cloud Back-Up – Make sure your
    data is staying in Australia by choosing a cloud back-up service provider that
    uses Australian-located data centres. Unless you have a NBN or other fibre
    internet product, we recommend scheduling your back-ups outside of business
    hours so as not to impact your internet service for your staff.
  3. External Hard Drive & Cloud
    Back-Up – This is the optimal data back-up solution because your data is local
    AND in the cloud. This offers you quicker recovery times if something were to
